Here are some simple steps that help you get started
For an easy Car wash at home?
- Buckets 2 or 3. One for Soapy Water, One for Rinsing, 1 for the Wheels
- Microfiber Cloth 2 or 3
- Car Wash Shampoo
- Brush to Wash Wheel Rims
- Car Polish
Fact 1 – The Perfect Spot
Do not keep your Car in the Sun, the heated car will evaporate the water leaving a residue of soap stains.
Find a cool place and begin your washing
Fact 2 – The Washing Technique
Some prefer to use the Double Bucket Method / Triple Bucket Method.
Both are the same, you only add an extra bucket for your Rinsing
The Double Bucket Method
- First Bucket for your Soapy Water
- Second Bucket to Rinse off the Soap on your Microfiber Cloth
The Triple Bucket Method
- First Bucket for your Soapy Water
- Soapy Microfiber cloth or cloth dipped in this bucket and used to wash your Car.
- Second Bucket to Rinse it Off
- All Soapy Microfiber Cloth Rinsed in this Bucket
- Third Bucket to Wash the Wheel Rims
- You keep a dedicated bucket only to wash your wheel Rims. Why?
- You do not want that Dirt Washed off the wheels only to clean the sponge and wipe it on your car. You are putting the same dirt from the road on to your body and thus scratching the paint
Car Shampoo
In India, we would visit the grocery store and buy a clothes washing powder sachet mix it in water or any washing powder for that matter. Using them can cause to dull your car Body paint and even scratches in the long run.
Buy a Car Shampoo formulated for washing cars. Always read the instructions before use.
Fact 3 – Car Wash at Home: Hard Water or Soft Water?
If you use hard water chances are that it will leave mineral stains on your car. Car Wash Shampoo does not mix with hard water. Any Shampoo or Soap for that matter.
You will not have any issues when it comes to soft water. If you use a RO water purifier at home, there is always some water that is being wasted every time you Switch On and switch Off. Collect that water for your Car Wash.
